Round 1: Group Stage

Like the UEFA cup, the first round of the Kibble competition is a group stage, where the 20 Kibble players are divided into 4 groups of 5, who will play against each other for a place in the next round.

Each Kibble group will make predictions on 2 UEFA groups. As there are 6 UEFA groups in total there is no even division that can be made to ensure each UEFA group is predicted by the same number of Kibblers, therefore the first three Kibble groups were allocated in the standard equitable manner and the final Kibble group had its two UEFA groups selected randomly.

The 20 Kibble players will be allocated to their respective groups by having the names drawn from a hat by a gayman (or lezza), as follows:

(The Kibbler numbers indicate the order they are drawn from the hat)

Kibble Group UEFA Groups Kibblers
1
A & D
1, 5, 9, 13, 17
2
B & E
2, 6, 10, 14, 18
3
C & F
3, 7, 11, 15, 19
4
A & F
(selected randomly)
4, 8, 12, 16, 20

Each player will Kibble all 6 games for each of the two UEFA groups they have been allocated. They will additionally pick one team from any of the other groups and Kibble all 3 of their games, giving a total of 15 predictions for this round.

The three players with the highest score in each group will go through to round 2, and be paired up for that round according to the table below.

In addition to the standard Kibble predictions, each player will submit a 'Meta-Kibble', by predicting their total score for this round. This is only used in the event of a tie, in which case the person who got closest to their predicted score (above or below) will win.

If there is still a tie-break the person with the lowest goal difference will win. If there is still a tie I will make an arbitrary new rule up.
