Have been enjoying rewatching Garth Merenghi's Darkplace on 4od this week. It's fabtastic, and Matt Berry is a genius.
Got me wondering though, how come 4od can make whole (multiple) series of shows available permanently, and stuff that is being sold in the shop at the same time and is quite popular (incl 6 full series of peep show, 3 series of IT crowd, brasseye, green wing etc etc), whilst the BBC takes everything off after 7 days, even if there's no chance they'll ever make any money from it through commercial release (e.g. obscure radio programmes like, I dunno, On the Blog)
Haven't we already paid for that content through our licence fee? Isn't it ours? Well, BBC? If 4od can do it why can't you?
That's what I have mostly been wondering about this week.
