So, now that Anelka's been sent home, and with dismal form so far, will we finally see Henry come off the bench in the final group match against South Africa?

If the players are still on strike there's every chance they'll field nobody.

Which may, of course, be an improvement on their performance against Mexico.

Maybe this is something England should consider?

Presumably it's only a team's centre-forwards who are allowed to take industrial action of this kind, or have I misunderstanderised?

Yes. And using similar logic, you're only allowed to substitue fall-backs.

Erm... or full-backs. Though that doesn't really work...

I'll get my coat.

And they're out! SHOCKER! Who'd have predicted that two weeks ago.

Of course it could be us tomorrow!

Shame to see South Africa go out, it looked for a while there like they might have been in with a shot...

Almost... but even at 2-0 they still needed to score another two! Which didn't seem likely.

That said, by my calculations, even if Brazil beat Portugal, Ivory Coast have to win by 9 goals more than Portugal score in order to get through.
